Tasting 101

Have you ever felt lost looking at a wine list in a restaurant? Can you identify the wines from different French regions? One more question, do you want to learn how to taste a wine, being able in three simple steps to go further in its appreciation? Our tastings 101 are built to give you the necessary basics of all those skills!

The wine is for us, of course, one of the most beautiful handcraft product. However, we know that it requires a little bit of training to fully understand and enjoy it.

One to Wine makes it a pleasure to make you discover the world of fine wines by giving simple tips and a three steps method to follow to remember the taste and aromas of a wine even a few weeks after the tasting.

These tasting classes are divided in 4 levels of skills, from the 101 to the 104:

  • 101: Basic initiation: How to taste a wine?

  • 102: The grape varieties: How to compare and recognise them?

  • 103: The vinification process: What method will bring what aromas?

  • 104: Initiation to blindtasting

About Tasting 101:

This this session is articulated around three withes from Bordeaux and three reds from Languedoc. We guide you through the tasting of each wines, progressively giving the attendee more and more autonomy until he feels comfortable describing a wine following our tasting sheets.

You can come with a pair of good friends to share your new passion, to have a great time and probably finish a bottle or two…

The tastings are in central London with an easy access, in a venue called Papilles, one of London’s most authentic wine bar in their philosophy, and we can taste it in their wines! Cosy moment guaranteed!

Tasting 101 takes place almost every week, you can check it on Eventbrite should you want to book a ticket (here) before the tickets run out. 🙂

Cheese and Wine Tasting

One of One To Wine’s most appreciated event is the Cheese and Wine Tasting nights Cheezelo, maybe because nobody can say no to a good wine matched with worldwide cheeses.

We have chosen the best partner to prepare these events: Cheezelo.

It is a nice and independent cheese shop, which provides the best worldwide selections of cheeses, some of them imported in exclusivity.

We can only make this event once a month, which explains the difficulty to get tickets!

The venue, Cheezelo, is a cute small shop that provides us thee perfect feeling of intimacy to create a great atmosphere among participants. A perfect time to talk and ask our experts all you were wondering about wine and cheeses. We prefer to make this tasting with small groups to be able to chat with everyone and give you the best experience.

 What can you expect?

This event is quite simple: you will taste 4 wines, paired with 6 cheeses. Each of them are introduced by our experts, who lead you through the wine and cheese tastings. The first two wines are paired with one cheese for the participant to get familiar with the method, the next two wines will be proposed two cheeses, creating two different pairings, which allows each attendee to forge its own opinion and share it with others! Thank to this, you will learn how to taste wines and how to make good pairings.

Even if you will not become an expert in one night, we will make sure that you get the main mechanics, to use them right later. Plus, we always keep in mind to surprise attendees with exclusives wines and cheeses for new flavors and sensations.

One to Wine will present you 3 white wines, and 1 red wine. The white selection is, Le Généreux Loire Blanc, L´Ambitieux Bordeaux Blanc and L´Ambitieux Loire Blanc. After those, you will be discovering Le Prestigieux Loire Rouge, one of our best quality reds.

These wines will be matched with Cheddar Wookey Farmhouse, La Bonne Cauchoise, Rosary goat, Old Winchester, Ossau Iraty and a Gruyère alpin.

We are looking forward seeing you in the next cheese and wine tasting!

One To Wine at a French event

Last 11th of September, Le Petit Journal London and French Square invited us to the ‘Apéro entrepreneur’, a networking event in which we could meet with some of the French entrepeneurs living in London.

The event was a great success, we found there good cheeses (and wines!) and got introduced to the new members of the French Square network. We also had a chance to present our company and the main features of our wines. Maxime, founder of One to Wine, lead this presentation, explaining the stories behind each wines and describing their aromas.

Well, of course, every one had a taste (or two :)) of each wines we bring with us.

The One to Wine selection for such a special night was a surprise for all the attendants. We started with a white Languedoc 2015, from Pech-Celeyran, near La Clappe, an impressive wine with a complex blend of Chardonnay, Viognier and Muscat that evolves in the glass, as long as you drink it. We then moved along with one of the most exclusive wines we have to offer, the AOC Rosé de Loire from Le Petit Clocher 2016, this wine is produced at 18 000 bottles only and, after receiving some of the most prestigious prices in French reference magazines, he became almost impossible to find in a few weeks and we are proud to present it as a UK exclusivity for One to Wine! We finished the night with our red Ambitieux from Bordeaux, its vintage, 2012, renowned to be the vintage of the decade so far, allows it to be full bodied, yet with a very silky and smooth impression on the palate with pleasant red fruits.

The night finished with French fries, new friends added to our contact list and empty bottles.

Next time we promise to surprise you again with great new wines!
